Intro to Yoga This short course will introduce students new to yoga the basic yoga poses, breathing techniques, stretches, and relaxation skills. Students who might miss a class may make it up in a Level I or Gentle Beginner class. 6 week sessions, Jan. 5 – Feb.9, Feb.16 –March 23.
Gentle Beginner is a combination of Gentle and Level I classes. Students will learn the Level I basic poses with focus on a ways to accommodate limitations. Taught in a comfortable, gentle way with relaxation, breath awareness and other stress reduction techniques. Open to all students. Gentle Flow Looking for a Flow Class without the long intense Flow poses? This class is a mixture of postures to strengthen, stretch and relax in combination with Sun Salutations and short sequences of flowing poses that link movement to the breath. Suitable for students who have completed at least 2 sessions of Level 1. Level 1 is a class for those new to yoga. This class will introduce the fundamentals of yoga, showing how yoga can increase strength, balance and flexibility. Exploration of basic standing and seated postures, breathing and relaxation techniques. Level 2 is a continuation of Level I. In this class endurance and refining the poses will be the focus. Students will learn simple back bending poses and shoulder stand. Intermediate is a class focused on inversions with emphasis on headstand, shoulder stand, and handstand prep. Backbends will also be introduced. Students must have a strong yoga practice and a full understanding of basics asanas. Yin Yang Yoga Yin Yang Yoga is a nice combination of the quietness and healing aspects of the Yin practice concentrating on the connective tissues and the more active Yang form of yoga which include seated and standing poses, Sun Salutations, and gentle flow. Breathing techniques and meditation will be a part of this class. This class is suitable for all students. Sunrise Yoga / Mixed Levels Students will enjoy joining breath to movement in a dynamic meditation in motion. This style uses Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar) to move smoothly from one yoga pose to another. Some prior experience with Sun Salutation will be helpful. Expect to leave the class refreshed and energized. Tai Chi for stress relief Also called "meditation in motion". No floor work, no props, and no experience needed. De-stress, relax, gain flexibility and increase your strength and balance! Tai Chi is gentle and low-impact, yet phenomenally powerful. You will immediately learn movements that you can easily take home and practice. Tai Chi has been widely recommended by places like the Mayo Clinic and Harvard Medical School to prevent and reverse health conditions related to aging! Also great for arthritis, Parkinson's, high blood pressure, poor sleep, back and neck pain, stiff and weak joints and chronic stress. All experience levels welcome. Yoga Shape-up Yoga Shape Up focuses on invigorating and energizing the body during the transitional months! Burn calories, tone core muscles, curb cravings, and promote glandular balance with techniques that can transform your body and your life! Open to all students! Relax and Restore Learn relaxation and a breathing exercises to calm your mind after a long, hectic day, followed by easy stretches and restorative poses to let your body rest deeply and restore the balance. Each class will finish with guided relaxation to let the mind completely relax. Open to all levels; no prior experience required. Prenatal / Post Partum This combination class will
help students stay healthy and relaxed while toning the body using the principles of proper alignment and breath
work. Prenatal students will focus on techniques for a more comfortable pregnancy, labor and delivery. Post Partum
Students will focus on techniques for gently regaining strength in the core muscles. New and experienced
students are welcome. Family Yoga Ages 9 and up will learn the basics of yoga as a family. This class will provide students with a firm foundation of yoga postures. Students will move through grounding poses, balance poses, creativity poses, reflection poses, and resting poses to ensure a full body experience in each class. Breath work will also be explored. |
