Back to TopYin Yoga with Pat Pao May 1: 1PM – 3PM $30 This workshop is a basic introduction to the Yin practice; a combination of quiet stationary poses designed to work our connective tissues and to protect the health of our joints. A more passive practice, Yin Yoga is the perfect balance to yang yoga (an active practice) helping to strengthen and harmonize our energy system. The Yang practice focuses on muscles and the surface of the body; the Yin practice is designed to work our connective tissues (ligaments and fascia) and nourishes the flow or energy in our bodies. Back to Top Meditation with Neil Goodman May 15: 1PM – 3PM May 22: 1PM – 3PM $50 for both or $30 for one Mindfulness is a practice of being aware of what we are doing moment to moment... not in the past or future, but in the present and being very much aware of what arises in the present. In mindfulness, we are trying to achieve a mind that is stable and calm. In this two part workshop, with the use of simple exercises and techniques, learn how to get to an elevated state of consciousness while fully awake. This method is known to boost your energy and immune system, lower your heart rate and blood pressure while experiencing a heightened sense of the world around you. The second session will teach the student how to put to use what was learned in the first session. If you already attended a previous workshop with Neil, you may join us for part 2. Hip Openers with Kat Reeves June 5: 1PM – 3PM $30 In today's society, many of us sit stationary in front of computers or sit for long hours in cars, planes, and buses. Sitting for long periods of time can cause the muscles in the hips to shorten and feel tight; tight hips can lead to posture problems and even back pain. Stretching and opening the hips can help to align the pelvis and the sacrum, can lead to greater range of movement in the lower back and hips, can bring a quiet focus to the mind, and sometimes can even spur emotional release. Join us in this workshop as we discus basic anatomy of the bones and muscles of the hips, and then dive into an extended practice designed to explore and open the hips. Open to all levels.
